Software Engineer
I'm a passionate, software engineer and technical lead based in Norwich, Norfolk. I'm currently focussing on .NET development and web development.
The following is a breakdown of my main skills. In summary I'm a very good all rounder and have developed on just about everything from big mainframe, Linux and Windows servers, Windows desktops all the way down to Linux based Single Board Computers and even microcontrollers.

The following shows my job history demonstrating my experience.
The development and support of a Sapiens eMerge web applcation which also involves development in JCL, COBOL, DB2, CICS, HTML, CSS and Javascript.
Development, maintenance and support of C# .NET applications.
More recently, leading the development of web application build using .NET and MVC.

Working on a Rapid Applications Team assigned to both change project work and run activity.
This involved building entire new Sapines eMerge applications, and maintained and supported existing ones, using my JCL, COBOL, DB2, CICS, HTML, CSS, Javascript and Sapiens skills.
Support and maintenance of a Java WebSphere Portal based application.
This role involved significant Teradata development which evolved in to a Teradata DBA role.
Acted as a release co-ordinator for the platform.
Developed and delivered technical training courses, for example on Perl and Teradata.
The build and support of Sapiens application using the Rapid Applications Development methodology.
This involved using JCL, COBOL, DB2, and CICS skills.
Worked in a variety of different teams in the MI/Finance Systems team, but primarily building and supporting data marts and exploitation layers in Business Objects.
This role involved a diverse range of technical skills including Oracle, DB2, Access, COBOL, Business Objects, Perl, UNIX, Korn Shell Scripting, Data Warehousing, SAS, JCL, SAS OLAP and HTML.
Provided technical training and mentoring to a number of colleages.
Working in the MI/Finance systems team. Responsible for the support of a particular system which supported a Broker rewards inititative and other MI applications.
General office duties, reception, technical support, computer installations, programming and training on a part-time basis whilst at college.

I was commissioned to build a simple site to share key information, and to allow members to download minutes of meetings etc.

This was a personal project mainly to help keep me up to date with what is going on in the industry.
This is a very simple application which combines a number of RSS feeds from news sites, companies and bloggers and provides a very simple reading interface. It's a fully responsive layout so easy to check on your phone for interesting articles etc.
This is very much a prototype at the moment. I hope to develop it further and make it to someting truely useful in the future.
